Charles Camosy, an Catholic theologian of considerable standing, has written a new book, Losing Our Dignity: How Secularized Medicine is Undermining Fundamental Human Equality. In it he posits that since 1970 medicine has been listening to the wrong people and that people of faith are no longer heard by those who have the power over life and death. In the linked review, from Devorah Goldman, while substantially in agreement with Camosy, argues that he misses several opportunities to fully develop this topic. In doing this she brings refreshing insights from the Jewish tradition.
